4 Steps to Grow Your Business
Just lately, I’ve seen an influx of new work: I was hired for two projects plus welcomed three new on-going clients.
Perhaps you’re now thinking of your own client list and seeing very few names on it. Even worse, the list might be shrinking.
How can you turn this around?
Here are four steps I took that have made the difference in my business — and they will in yours too.
1. Focus
What do you want? Be specific here: how many clients, how much income, what service or product you will provide and how it will help those clients.
2. Define your target audience.
Who are you marketing to? “Everyone” is not the right answer here! Know who they are, what they want, where they are and how you help them. Knowing this enables you to create marketing that works.
3. Get help.
You can’t do it all! Make a list of what you do in your business each day (I am betting it will be a long list.) Your main daily activities should include getting clients and providing service to those people. That is all. Spending your time on website updates, sending your newsletter, admin tasks, bookkeeping, editing documents and videos, setting up systems, etc, etc, etc… will not help you grow your business! These items need to be outsourced to someone who not only knows how to do them, but can do them faster and better.
4. Get a coach.
This is the number one thing I did that has made the biggest difference in my business. I have guidance and support from someone who has made the mistakes and figured out how to grow a business into a success… and a coach will help you grow your business.
Three years ago I decided to start a business. I had no idea how to get clients, how to market my services (or even what services to offer,) how to run a business or how to become successful.
I needed help.
I hired a coach, not knowing how I would pay her, but my desire to have a successful business was greater than my fears. I was prepared to do whatever it would take to make this work.
Together we’ve grown my business into a full-time venture with many clients, I hired an assistant, my income is increasing every month and I have a solid plan for where I am going.
A year ago I celebrated this success on stage with my coach at Wealth Makers 2012. This 3-day event in the Toronto area is the premiere Canadian event of the year for business owners to learn the steps of making a decision, making a plan and making money.
Wealth Makers isn’t a fluff event with endless sales pitches. You will get a workbook and go through it during the three days. You will walk away with the knowledge of what to do and how to do it.
I invite you to join me, 200 other business owners and the coach who made it all possible. We meet September 25 to 27 in the Toronto area. Everyone I’ve talked to who attended last year is going again… this is evidence of the value you will receive when you join us.
