Even though email marketing is the number one way to turn leads into buyers, you may not yet be seeing this result with your readers. One reason may be that you are too generic and holding back — you’re boring and bland in your ezine.
The best way to stand out and get results from your ezine is to be yourself and find your unique voice.
When you are authentic in your ezine, your passion for the topic and your personality will shine through. Some people may not like it but others will love it! This will draw ideal clients to you and push away the not-so-ideal ones (which is exactly what you want to happen.)
Look at Suzanne Evans: she is open about her sexual orientation and frequently uses curse words. She also has one of the fastest growing businesses in America and people flock to her coaching programs. I’m not suggesting you copy Suzanne, I want you to be YOU, without trying to please everyone or hiding your opinions.
When you are being yourself, this will create a sense of community with your readers; they will feel closer to you and their loyalty will grow.
How do you generate content in your own unique voice?
While writing or recording your content, imagine you are doing it for a friend. Write or speak how you would to that person. Don’t worry too much about grammar or slang words (although I don’t want you going too far the other way, you should be professional and avoid spelling errors.) Your loyal readers will come to understand and love your style. If you’re new to this concept, allow it time to develop as you relax more and more into expressing your personality through your ezine.
Another example is Danielle LaPorte. She is opinionated and not afraid to tell it like it is — I love her style!
I’ve never met either of the women I’ve mentioned. If we were to meet, I am certain we would have things in common and enjoy a conversation. I am sure of this because they have shown me who they are through their blog posts and ezines… I already know, like and trust them.
To have your readers feel the same way abut you, be bold enough to express your personality and opinions, never forgetting to be respectful when someone disagrees. Trying to please everyone is the fastest way to be boring and bland in your ezine and that strategy will result in fewer readers and buyers of your products and services.
Another way to show your personality in your ezines is by using different formats such as videos and audios. I do provide video and audio editing services, plus I can help you get them into your ezines. Contact me for more information on how to get started this week.
